Welcome to Brown Dog Hiking! Here you will find the many adventures of Sam, affectionately known as Brown Dog. Each weekend, weather permitting, Brown Dog and her human assistants, will post pictures and trail reviews of that weekend’s adventures. The posts on the main page will be the trail names that come from the book, Best Hikes with Dogs, Western Washington, while the trail reviews will have the official trail name. 2 Comments for this entry. Our second hike took us into the North Cascades. About an hour north of our home base is Darrington, Washington, and the Boulder Creek trail. Our book calls it Boulder River, but at the Shell station we stopped at, the locals called it Boulder Creek. This time the road was well marked, and in a little bit better condition than our previous hike. Over all it was a nice little hike, with some drama along the way.
